Sheenal & Keval

Hindu Gujarati Wedding

I have always dreamt of the perfect proposal but nothing prepared me for Keval’s. I didn’t have the slightest clue of what he was going to do even when we arrived at the pier to embark on a night cruise along the Thames. At this point I still did not think anything of it as Keval always does spontaneous things.

It was beautiful, calm and relaxing cruising along the Thames. After canapés and champagne we went for a romantic walk near Big Ben where he got down on one knee, read a poem and proposed. It was so magical.

Organising the wedding was stressful but fun. I always knew what I wanted from the beginning and it helped that me and Keval both had the same vision. I also had help from my parents and sister in organising. We wanted something private and intimate yet grand, ensuring each part of the day had a memorable touch to it. We celebrated in style with 500 guests for the wedding day and 300 for the reception.

It was a hard task finding the right venue. Eventually we went with a very modern, elegant and spacious place called The Advait Centre. It was the ideal backdrop for our elegant theme of white décor with crystals. We decided to have the wedding ceremony and reception in the same hall and knew it was a major risk but thanks to the planning it worked out well. Jay & I Events created a beautiful white and gold mandap with crystals. The mandap was placed in the middle of the hall making it the focal point when guests entered. This was complemented with a white aisle.

For the wedding reception we wanted a very contemporary elegant feel to it. We had lighters for the head table and crystal trees placed all around the venue as well as a guest book table with crystal drops.

Ash Kumar added a finishing touch to the bar by personalising it with our names

This vision was beautifully executed by Solitaire Weddings. My make-up and styling was done by the talented Naveeda who made me look like a princess. I wanted a bridal outfit that had different shades of red.

We took a trip to India and found that outfits there were far too heavy. In the end I found a beautiful outfit from Benzaar in Mumbai, which had a unique style and was in shades of pink. As Keval is a very simple, elegant man he wanted something that matched his personality. At the reception I wanted to look like an Egyptian princess and wanted an outfit that was gold and elegant. The outfit was a Sheenal Patel creation and I loved it.

After my sister and brother in law gave their unforgettable speeches, DJs Kudos set the scene and the party kicked off in good spirits with a surprise performance for our guests by singer Imran Khan. I will never forget the Harlem Shake and when we released doves with my nephews. It was the most special day of our lives that we’ll remember forever.
